Feeding the mind and spirit, as well as the body, is an important component of the Point Hope Early Childhood Education program. Play is an important function in early childhood development and we make sure it is included in the daily schedule.
About Early Childhood Education
Point Hope provides about 110 children, ages one to five years, the opportunity to receive an education in a safe environment while receiving two well-balanced meals each day. The children learn numbers and the alphabet, as well as learning to color, draw and write; they enjoy singing songs and playing with the other children, learning important social interaction skills. (So far we have graduated over 500 kids and growing from the early education program.)
Simultaneously, their mothers are encouraged to participate in various skills training and income generating activities to sustain their families.
